As of this writing I am in my 28th year of being an IT & A/V professional. I started in this career a Data Management Engineer working on Outside Plant Records for Southern Bell Telephone at an engineering firm, Geonex, Inc.. That post entailed not only CAD work but data management on the linked telephone network data attached to the drawings. I grew this into managing teams doing this kind of work in my early 20’s at different engineering firms. After becoming a Desktop Support specialist I decided to move into full time IT, taking a Product Support Position with GTE Data Services (Later Verizon). In this position I did everything from application management to systems administration to software user acceptance testing and finally enterprise level application development.
I would eventually use these skills and this experience to start my own consulting firm. I enjoyed 7 great years of learning and growing as a consultant. I even managed to survive the economic downturn, barely. Through all of this I gained an enormous amount of experience and wealth of skills in both IT but also project management. I also during this time revived my interest in Audio/Visual technology. Today most A/V technology has more in common with computers than it does record & tape player of our youth (WOW just date myself). As part of my companies offering we began to install media systems, both commercial and consumer level. This ranged from Video conferencing systems to elaborate home theater systems. I would eventually sell my company and go full time into the integration of IT & A/V, enter Digital Signage.
In 2010 I took a position with a growing local business, AccentHealth LLC, which had grown in the 15 years before me to the largest digital signage company in the medical vertical. I would eventually become their Product Technology Manager, driving product improvement and leading the team that developed AccentHealth’s first ever non waiting room product. Up until 2014 they had only ever installed digital signage in medical waiting rooms. I helped develop the business plan to create a new product to deliver interactive digital content to patients in the exam rooms while they waited. I developed the hardware and operational parts of the project and would eventually take over the whole project by managing new software development as well. Within the first year of launching this product we installed over 10K units. Building off this success I began development on several other projects, eventually making AccentHealth very attractive to our biggest competitor, Context Media Inc.. Together our 2 companies would combine to become Outcome Health Inc., the 2nd largest digital signage company in the world.
In 2018 I excepted an offer to join the team at Creative Realities, Inc. as their Senior Installation Project Manager. CRI performs some of the most amazing Digital Signage Installations taking place today. From large retail to sports venues, from small point of sale signs to giant 30 foot video walls, we do it all. With offices in both the US and Canada this company holds an enormous amount of promise and I am very proud to be a part of this team.
