Project Management Professional
Well, that was about as hard of a test as I have ever taken, but well worth it. I have completed my Project Management Professional certification by successfully passing my exam on 10/16/2020. I was originally slated to take it in February of 2020 but then the world stopped spinning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. So many months later, many scrambles later to keep things afloat I finally took the time to properly study and pass my exam. As a 30+ years IT professional I am all about process and this now gives me not only the validation of my experience but a wealth of tools to use to improve myself and my position.
Never stop learning, best advise I can ever give, just when you think you know it all the world will pull that rug right out from under you. A good example is from my development background. For a time I wrote interactive applications for moving data files around in business systems. The preferred tool was Visual Basic 6, of which I was very proficient. Along came Microsoft’s .net suite of programming languages and almost overnight I was made obsolete. To avoid this I highly recommend you develop a plan for constant professional self improvement. I know to many this seems daunting but the world of education has whole heartedly embraced remote learning. And “IF” there is a good thing to come from COVID it is the attention being put on remote interactive technology. More of us now work from home, and while the isolation is not ideal, the technology advancements will stay with us long after the pandemic is over hopefully. This will allow for greater opportunities to share ideas and learn from virtually anyone, anywhere, anytime. Make the best of the hand we have been dealt. I implore you to resist using the issues affecting our world currently as an excuse of why you can’t but instead look for the opportunities it presents and exploit them to their fullest.
